During the exhibition «States of Glass», Nordnorsk kunstnersenter is organizing a Nordic artist-in-residence program for ten days in August 2021 (11 to 21 of August 2021). Eight glass artists will get an opportunity to explore Lofoten, local glasshouses, and the sculptural and experimental possibilities of glass. The residency will culminate in a symposium on 20th and 21st of August.

The residency will take place at Kunstnerhuset in Lofoten, located on Svinøya outside Svolvær. The workshop will be held in Cathinka Mæhlum’s glasshouse in Kabelvåg.

The residency will focus on collaborative practices, with two and two working together, with input from the whole group. Exploration and process is at the core more than the result. This is an opportunity to test out and discuss the potential of the material. The program will consist of a combination of focused work in the glasshouse, and demonstrations where all participants are present. In addition, excursions and social gatherings will be arranged.

We will cover:

  • Food and accommodation at Kunstnerhuset in Lofoten
  • Return trip to Svolvær
  • Access to workshop facilities at allotted time periods
  • Group excursions in Lofoten
